Belgian-born Ghanaian defender Ibrahim Digberekou was sent off in Borussia Mönchengladbach U-19's thrilling 2-1 victory over Bayer 04 Leverkusen U-19 in the A-Junior Bundesliga West.

Digberekou started the match at the Fohlenplatz am Borussia-Park and played a pivotal role in the game's events.

The match began with Borussia Mönchengladbach taking the upper hand in the clash between the third and second-placed teams. However, the hosts faced an early setback when Digberekou fouled Ken Izekor in the penalty area in the tenth minute. The referee, Bastian Winkler, awarded a penalty and showed Digberekou a yellow card. Izekor took the penalty himself, but his shot was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Tiago Pereira Cardoso.

Borussia Mönchengladbach was awarded a penalty in the 19th minute, which Winsley Boteli confidently converted, giving his team a 1-0 lead. The hosts extended their lead in the 39th minute when Konstantin Gerhardt's cross found Josiah Uwakhonye, who scored to make it 2-0.

Digberekou's day went from bad to worse in the 67th minute when he was shown a second yellow card for delaying a Leverkusen free-kick, reducing Borussia to ten men. The resulting free-kick led to Leverkusen's goal, scored by Samuel Zirkzee. However, Leverkusen's comeback hopes were dented when their goal scorer, Zirkzee, was sent off in the 82nd minute for a bad tackle.

Borussia Mönchengladbach will next face Wuppertaler SV on the final matchday of the A-Junior Bundesliga West. Despite the red card, Digberekou's team managed to hold on for a crucial win
