Gilbert Koomson scores in SK Brann’s 3-2 defeat to Molde

Ghanaian international Gilbert Koomson found the back of the net on Monday when his SK Brann side lost 3-2 to Molde.

The two clubs play in the Norwegian top-flight league which has been on hold for the past few months as a result of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

With authorities and government yet to finalize a restart date for the various leagues, clubs in the elite division have been training in the past couple of weeks.

To build on the fitness of the players, some clubs have also decided to play friendly matches as they continue the wait to receive the green light for the sport to resume.

Yesterday, SK Brann tested its strength with an away friendly match against giants Molde at the Fosshaugane Campus.

The host took the lead after just 5 minutes of play when Magnus Wolff Eikrem hit the back of the net. 6 minutes later, Robert Taylor scored for the away team to bring them level.

In the early parts of the second half, Ghana’s Gilbert Koomson shot SK Brann into the lead but unfortunately, the club could not hold on.

Two late goals from Ola Brynhildsen and Kristoffer Haraldseid in the final 10 minutes of the match ensure that Molde had the last laugh at the end of a very good exercise.

Gilbert Koomson lasted 62 minutes before he was replaced by Marcus Mehnert. He displayed good form and should come good when football returns in Norway.
