Goldfields Ghana Limited has agreed in principle to extend its sponsorship deal with Medeama Sporting Club, Asaase Radio has reported.

The deal is worth a whopping $300,000 for a period of one year.

The new deal, when signed, will help cover the cost of the club’s contractual obligations to players and managers technical team members.

It will also help cover their operational cost, as well as medical, accommodation, feeding, and logistics for the team.

Prior to the start of the 2020/22 Ghana Premier League, Goldfields Ghana signed a deal with Medeama with the same economic benefit.

That deal, worth $300,000, was a significant injection to the club’s finances as it allowed them to keep their key players who were being chased Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.

Goldfields will also continue their investment into the re-construction of the Tarkwa T&A Park; Medeama’s original home venue.

Medeama S.C finished fifth last season in the Ghana Premier League with seven points behind champions Hearts of Oak. The Mauves and Yellows were semi-finalists in last season’s MTN FA Cup.

The Yellow and Mauve also kicked off their 2021/22 season with a heavy defeat against Bechem United.

Ignatius Osei-Fosu, who is the head coach of Medeama will be hoping to steer the side to pick up their first three points against Bibiani Gold Stars this weekend.
