Gov’t aims is to position Ghana as a sports hub in West Africa – Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif

The Minister of Youth and Sports in Ghana, Mustapha Ussif has disclosed that government plans to position the country as a sports hub in West Africa.

The Sports Minister said this during a press briefing on Monday, March 4, ahead of the start of the 13th African Games this week.

According to the Minister, the completion of the sporting facilities for the hosting of the Games shows President Akufo-Addo’s passion and commitment to sports development.

“The completion of sporting facilities for the hosting and organisation of the 13th African Games, Accra, 2023 underscores the commitment of His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to the development of sports in Ghana.

“The facilities at Borteyman, especially the Aquatic Centre are also one of its kind in the whole of Africa. This will make Ghana a Centre of sports development on the continent,” Hon. Mustapha Ussif said.

The Sports Minister further stressed that Government wants to Position Ghana as a sports hub within the West African sub-region.

The 13th African Games is scheduled for March 8 to March 23.
