Harrogate Town confirm capture of Ghana defender Zico Asare

Harrogate Town AFC, a League Two club in England, have bolstered their squad with the signing of Ghanaian defender Zico Asare.

The club expressed their delight in acquiring Asare, marking him as their second signing of the transfer window.

The 23-year-old joins on a permanent deal from Maidenhead United, where he impressed during the 2023/24 season, earning a call-up to represent England C after catching the eye with his performances.

Beginning his career at Fulham and representing England at the U15 level, Asare later moved to Oxford City in 2021 before joining Maidenhead United in 2022.

His tenure at Maidenhead showcased his abilities on the right side of defense in the National League.

Head of Player Recruitment at Harrogate Town, Lloyd Kerry spoke highly of Asare's attributes, noting his athleticism, power, and eagerness to succeed in the Football League.

“Zico is athletic, powerful and is hungry for an opportunity in the Football League, he has the profile we’re looking for in a full back and he’ll add competition for places.

“He’s explosive, can get away from his man and competes well so we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do.
