Hearts of Oak legend Ishmael Addo has disclosed that he feels proud of holding the record of most goals in a Ghana Premier League season.

The 43-year-old scored an incredible 22 goals in 2001 topflight to win the golden boot as well as helping the Phobians win the treble that year.

"It makes me feel special because the league was there before I was born and then there has been some records that were set before I came along. So having the opportunity to have a record of my own in the Ghana League, that’s something I will always be proud of," he told Tv3.

"That is to say I was fulfilled. I gave my best and my all to them (Hearts) when I was with them so I think my job was done and I did a good job with them."

During his spell with Hearts of Oak, Addo won the 2000 CAF Champions League and 2001 Super Cup, four Ghana Premier League titles (1997–98, 1999, 2000, 2001) and two FA Cups (1999, 2000).

He made 71 appearances and scored 64 goals for Hearts during his three-stay at the club.
