Hearts of Oak defender Kelvin Osei Asibey open for competition at club
Hearts of Oak defender Kelvin Osei Asibey has expressed readiness to compete for starting role in the upcoming campaign.
The Phobians are currently in the market searching for quality players to augment their team ahead of season following a disappointing performance last term.
The Ghanaian giants finished 14th on the Ghana Premier League standings at the end of the 2023/24 campaign, where Samartex emerged as champions.
The rainbow boys had to wait until the final day to determine their state in the Ghanaian top-flight.
Hearts of Oak can boast of four strong centre-backs at the club including Asibey. Captain Kofi Agbesimah, newcomer Michael Awuah Mensah and returnee Konadu Yiadom are all available for coach Aboubakar Ouattara to choose from.
And speaking to Kessben FM monitored, as followed by Footballghana.com, the former Eleven Wonders defender affirmed he is unfazed by the arrival of new players as he open for competition at the club.
“Players will come and leave. There are old players and new arrivals. Definitely, the competition is going to be tough. Getting a starting role at the club will depend on how you perform at training. Selection will be very tough but I just have to give out my best to win the coach’s heart” he said.
Hearts of Oak will face Asante Kotoko on Wednesday evening in the Democracy Cup.
