Communications Director of Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo has opened up on the future of midfielder Salifu Ibrahim as he nears the expiration of his contract.

The 23-year-old joined the Phobians from Eleven Wonders in 2021 but will see his contract expire at the end of the current season.

Earlier reports in the local media suggested the skillful midfielder has decided not to extend his stay when his contract runs out in June.

But Opare Addo in an interview gave the Phobians fans a bit of hope regarding contract extension.

“We are still in talks with the player and his representatives, as and when everything is concluded, we will not hide it from anyone”

“But I can confirm the club is very much interested so we are in serious discussion with him” he said.

Salifu Ibrahim was instrumental when the Phobians annex the Ghana Premier League title during the 2021/22 season, ending their eleven year trophy drought in the country.

Aside the Premier League title, the midfielder has won numerous trophies including FA Cup and President Cup titles respectively.

This season, he has racked up two goals and provided nine assists in 28 games for the Phobians.
