Hearts of Oak defender Larry Sumaila Ibrahim has assured the fans the club will make them proud again after a topsy-turvy season so far.

The Phobians are currently 7th on the league table with 21 points following their recent win over city-rivals Great Olympics on match week 14 at the Accra Sports stadium in the on-going 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.

The club has failed to win any major trophy for the past 10 years and face a daunting task of winning this season’s title.

Speaking to kickgh.com, Ibrahim is confident the club will start winning trophies soon.

"Growing up, I had the opportunity of watching Hearts winning titles domestically and on the continent. I believe we can equally do same. Football has evolved and when you have players who are tenacious and hungry for success, anything can be possible," he said after Hearts' win over Great Olympics on Wednesday.

"They had their style that worked according to the players available likewise us."

“None of the generations that emerged after the aforementioned teams has been successful. We have a duty to our fans and to ourselves. We will make our fans proud. We had a difficult start to the season but things have changed now."

He added, "There’s a good feeling in camp right now, and we must do everything we can to bring smiles to the faces of our fans and win the league title and possibly make a good appearance in Africa."

"We need to take every opposition seriously if we can attain this goal. We don’t need to underestimate or overestimate them because the football map in Ghana has changed and there really are no minnows in the game."

Hearts of Oak will lock horns with King Faisal on match week 15 of the Ghana Premier League as they look to continue their winning streak on Monday.
