High-Flying Roma Manager Luciano Spalletti a Target for Premier League Rivals Arsenal & Tottenham

Published on: 08 March 2017

Roma manager Luciano Spalletti has emerged as a potential managerial candidate for north London duo, Arsenal and Tottenham.

According to La Roma 24, the two English clubs are closely monitoring the Giallorossi coach, who is currently discussing a new deal in the Italian capital.

The 58-year-old has worked wonders with Roma this season as they look set to secure Champions League football. However, a 2-1 loss at home to high-flying Napoli on Saturday has thrown a slight element of doubt into the mix.

For Arsenal, keeping tabs on Spalletti seems sensible, given that Arsene Wenger's reign at the Gunners is reaching the stage of untenable.

In the case of Spurs, they will be hoping that they do not have to search for a new boss given the success of Mauricio Pochettino, however, the Argentine is constantly linked with the soon-to-be vacant position at Barcelona.

In reality, the Gunners are the ones who will likely be the ones in pursuit of the Italian.

Spalletti is rarely linked with the high-profile move, however, given his managerial success, he should perhaps be mentioned more.

He made his name at Udinese before moving to Rome for his first spell in charge of the Italian giants.

Afterwards, he was off to Russia for a successful stint in charge of Zenit St Petersburg prior to his return to Rome in the winter of 2016.

Wenger's position will surely be left vacant in the summer and in Spalletti, they could be on to a very admirable replacement. Arsenal fans will be hoping he can bring along a few of his impressive Roma side with him, mainly, Belgian midfielder, Radja Nainggolan.
