Manchester United’s rising star, Kobbie Mainoo, marked a milestone in his career by making his England debut on Saturday.

Chances that the English-born Ghanaian could feature for the Black Stars are now slim, looking at the fact that he could be inline to play at the Euros.

The 18-year-old midfielder was called upon by manager Gareth Southgate during the international friendly against Brazil at Wembley Stadium.

Mainoo entered the field in the 75th minute, replacing Conor Gallagher, as England sought to break the deadlock in a tightly contested match.

Despite Mainoo’s introduction, the Three Lions ultimately fell short, succumbing to a 1-0 defeat against Brazil.

Nonetheless, Mainoo’s inclusion in the squad underscores his rapid rise in the footballing world. Having showcased impressive performances for Manchester United throughout the season, Mainoo’s talent caught the attention of Southgate, who opted to grant him a senior debut for the national team.

Mainoo’s journey to the England squad has been swift, considering he only made his full Premier League debut against Everton in November 2023.

Despite his limited experience at the highest level, Mainoo’s inclusion in the squad hints at the potential role he could play in England’s campaign, especially with the European Championships on the horizon.
