I believe we can do something to make Ghana proud – Samartex striker Baba Musah on CAF Champions League opener

Samartex forward Baba Musah Hamadu says his outfit will do everything possible to make Ghanaians proud in their CAF Champions League opener against Victoria United.

The first leg of the match is scheduled for August 18, 2024, in Douala, with the return fixture set to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Samartex have already arrived in Cameroon and will commence their preparations for the much-anticipated clash on Sunday.

Ahead of the first leg, Baba Musah insists the Timber giants will do their best to make Ghanaians proud.

“I didn’t know Victoria United until we were paired against them. I watched and made enquiries about them. Our technical team are working on them as well. We are preparing hard for Victoria United. We are not under pressure going into this game and I believe we can do something to make Ghana proud” he said.

The team touched down in Douala, Cameroon on early Thursday morning for the much-anticipated clash slated for Sunday.

The Ghanaian champions are representing Ghana for the first time in the CAF elite competition after emerging as champions in the recently concluded Ghana Premier League season, dethroning Medeama.

The winner of the tie between the Ghanaian outfit and Victoria United will progress to the second preliminary round where they potentially face Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic for a place in the group stages.
