I don't expect Jerome Boateng to return to the German national team- Oliver Bierhoff

German legend and technical director of the national team, Oliver Bierhoff does not believe that head coach Joachim Low will call Boateng into Die Mannschaft despite his improved form.

In the previous year, Joachim Low announced that he will no longer call Thomas Muller, Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels into the national side in an effort for a new direction.

The trio have performed well in their respective clubs since then with Muller and Boateng clinching the Bundesliga title. Hummels has also been a regular fixture for Dortmund.

In an interview with German Sport 1, Bierhoff believes that Joachim Low will stick to his initial decision.

"I'm glad they play so well. But I don't expect our national team coach Joachim Löw to change his mind."

"The best players are not always the best team," said Bierhoff. "At the World Cup in Russia, some young players sometimes clashed with the old guard. Our national coach had to make decisions then."
