Asante Kotoko coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has revealed that he turned down an offer to coach Hearts of Oak due to his commitment to the club.

After guiding the Porcupine Warriors to a successful Ghana Premier League title, Ogum surprisingly left the club.

However, the former WAFA gaffer returned to the club after being drafted into the Interim Management Committee (IMC) following the dissolution of the Nana Yaw Amponsah-led management and the Board of Directors.

After finishing on a high note in the first half of the season, Kotoko have recorded just a win in the last five games played in the second half of the ongoing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

Amidst the struggle, Dr Ogum affirmed his commitment to the Kotoko course by stating that he rejected the chance to coach Hearts of Oak before he returned to the club.

“I was linked to the Hearts of Oak job; if I wanted to go, I would have done it," he revealed during an interview with Angel FM.

"It was just there for me to go; they called me, they engaged me. I could have gone. I said no I will not go and they didn’t even understand why…It’s all about Kotoko," he added.

Asante Kotoko sit 8th on the league log with 32 points and will host Nations FC in the Matchday 23 games at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday with kick-off scheduled at 20:00GMT.
