Ghanaian midfielder Clifford Aboagye says he was hoping for a Black Stars call up for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The former Black Satellites captain missed out on Otto Addo’s squad for the biggest soccer mundial played in the Asian country, where Argentina emerged as champions.

Speaking to Linus Siaw Nartey on YouTube monitored by Footballghana.com, the 28-year-old midfielder disclosed he aimed at making the Black Stars squad for the tournament.

“Yes, I was playing regularly and I was definitely hoping to get a call up but I think it wasn’t time, when it’s time, God always has his ways of doing marvelous things so I still have to focus and wait for my time” he said.

The former Inter Allies star is currently without a club after ending his spell with Querétaro in Mexico.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars of Ghana suffered early elimination from the World Cup tournament after failing to progress from a group that consisted Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
