Black Queens Coach Nora Hauptle has expressed satisfaction with the team’s approach to Saturday’s international friendly against Japan despite losing 4-0.

The match saw the Black Queens hold Japan to a goalless draw in the first half before conceding four goals in the second half, primarily from set pieces.

The West African nation was reduced to ten players just after 23 minutes following the sending off of Captain Portia Boakye, but still managed to end the first half without conceding.

“We defended with determination, with passion, we closed the centre. I think our keeper was outstanding,” the Swiss Trainer said after the game.

“In the end, we need to acknowledge to play an hour against Japan with 10 players, the quality is higher, so all in all I’m okay about the mentality shown and how we took the challenge.”

The Black Queens were using the game to prepare for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations while Japan used the game as an Olympic prep.
