Bayer Leverkusen Sporting Director, Simon Rolfes has expressed his delight after Ghanaian defender Jeremie Frimpong bagged a brace in their 3-0 win away at Mainz on Matchday four.

Frimpong put up an impressive performance as he helped his side end their losing start to the season.

Leverkusen took the lead when Exequiel Palacios’s effort from the edge of the box went in off Jonathan Burkardt.

Leverkusen took advantage of two defensive mistakes by Mainz as Frimpong grabbed a quickfire brace, first tapping in Moussa Diaby’s square ball after running in behind and then rounding Robin Zentner after a mix-up at the back to slot home.

"He always puts his heart into it and his heart is in the right place. I'm very happy for him," said sports boss Simon Rolfes.

Frimpong has made five appearances for Bayer Leverkusen all competitions this season and scored two goals.
