Amankwah Mireku slams Hearts of Oak players over poor performances

Hearts of Oak legend, Yaw Amankwah Mireku, has launched a scathing critique on the current playing body following their poor performances.

The club is enduring a tough campaign, losing five of their last six matches in the Ghana Premier League, with their latest defeat being a 1-0 loss to Accra Lions at home.

Currently placed 12th in the league standings, the Phobians are just five points above the relegation zone.

In an interview with Akoma FM, Mireku, a CAF Confederation Cup winner with the club, lambasted the players for their role in the team's decline.

"Players join Hearts of Oak and lose focus because they prioritize money and unnecessary lifestyle over performance," Mireku said.

"Take Salifu Ibrahim for example, was this his level of performance when he first joined the club? He lacks the passion and zeal he used to have."

"Instead of understanding the demands of playing for Hearts of Oak and putting in extra effort, the players are not taking it seriously. They are more interested in buying flashy cars, and partying, and that's it. They're not showing the commitment required."

Hearts of Oak will be looking to bounce back when they face Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park in their Matchday 29 fixture on Wednesday.
