Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum shares insights on how his team secured victory over Legon Cities in matchday 29 of the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors inflicted a 2-0 win over Legon Cities at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday to secure maximum points.

Since they met with owner Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu after a series of bad results, the Porcupine Warriors have displayed resilience, remaining undefeated. On Sunday, they clinched their second win in three games.

Goals from Steven Desse Mukwala and defender Nurudeen Yussif Mohammed propped the Ghanaian giants to snatch victory.

After the game, Ogum explained how his side managed to snatch victory over the Royals in the much-anticipated clash.

“It’s what our teaming supporters always want. Once you win, they are happy and we are also happy. I think their two pivots are the main architects of their game so we tried to play some man marking game there, where we wouldn’t allow them to play”

“We saw that they are not that fast as a defensive line and they play high up so we decided to look for the pocket spaces behind even though most of the time Steven was caught offside but I encouraged him that even if he is caught ten times and the eleven one results in a goal that is all that we want so he should keep going. I think that is what worked for us in the game” he said.

Asante Kotoko are currently tenth on the Ghana Premier League table with 40 points after 29 matches.
