Dreams FC coach Karim Zito gets standing ovation from GFA ExCo for his remarkable achievement

Dreams FC coach Abdul Karim Zito received a standing ovation from the Ghana Football Association Executive Council for his remarkable achievement as a coach.

This was after a delegation from the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup campaigners paid a courtesy call on the leadership of the Ghana FA to express gratitude for the unwavering throughout their Africa journey.

The Still Believe lads defied all odds to reach the semifinals of their maiden participation in the Confederation Cup campaign.

Dreams FC were on the brink of making history, but things fell apart after succumbing to a heavy defeat at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday to Zamalek.

The Ghana FA Cup holders went into the return leg with the advantage after holding the Egyptian powerhouse to a pulsating goalless draw in the first leg played at the Cairo International Stadium.

But the Ghanaian outfits’ hopes of reaching the finals dashed after succumbing to a 3-0 defeat.

Addressing Dreams FC’s delegation, the Ghana FA capo, Kurt Okraku singled out Coach Zito for high commendation, making reference to some of his achievements as a coach.

These feats include leading the Black Satellites to victory in the WAFU ZONE B U20 Championship and the U20 Africa Cup of Nations, and thus clinching qualification for the U20 World Cup in 2021.

Special mention was also made of Coach Karim Zito leading Dreams FC to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederations Cup in their maiden participation in African inter-club football competition.

Okraku also lauded Zito for his outstanding accomplishments, praising his dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

"Sometimes when I see him (Zico) work and I hear him speak, I feel a bit emotional because he's somebody I have known for long. I think he's earned his respect among our coaches, and it's important we accord him the respect that he deserves." President Simeon-Okraku said.
