Ghana Football Association implements mandatory rest period for elite clubs

Published on: 07 May 2024

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a compulsory rest period for all elite clubs from June 17 to July 16, 2024, as part of its efforts to protect the health and well-being of players.

This decision comes in accordance with the GFA's Regulations and is aimed at providing players with a much-needed break after a demanding league season.

The GFA has always prioritized the health and welfare of its players, and this mandatory rest period is a testament to that commitment. Following the conclusion of the league season, players are expected to take this necessary break to rejuvenate and prepare for the upcoming season.

With only five games left in the Ghana Premier League and one game remaining in the Division One League, all stakeholders are expected to take note of this directive and act accordingly.

The GFA has emphasized the importance of respecting these safeguards to ensure the longevity and well-being of the players.
