Ghanaian midfielder Geoffrey Edwin Acheampong, a product of the Right to Dream academy, has been recognized for his exceptional performance in the 23/2024 Maltese Premier League season.

The 27-year-old Sliema Wanderers player has been named among the Best XI of the season.

Acheampong, who played high school soccer at Cate School in Carpinteria, California, has had a long journey in the world of football. He began his football career at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he made 22 appearances and scored 3 goals in his only year with the Gauchos.

In pursuit of a professional football career, Acheampong left the Gauchos in 2016 and signed with SC Bastia of Ligue 1. He made his professional debut on September 18, 2016, as a substitute for Allan Saint-Maximin in a match against AS Saint-Étienne.

Since then, Acheampong has played for a variety of teams, including Veracruz, LA Galaxy II, AC Kajaani, Elmina Sharks, Rovaniemen Palloseura, and Mosta FC. His move to Sliema Wanderers in 2023 marked a significant turning point in his career, leading to his recognition as one of the best players in the Maltese Premier League.

This season, Acheampong played 26 matches and scored six goals, contributing significantly to Sliema Wanderers' performance.
