New Edubiase President Abdul Salam Yakubu commends George Afriyie for legal approach to GFA Election disqualification

Abdul Salam Yakubu, the President of New Edubiase, has praised George Afriyie for his decision to use legal channels to challenge his disqualification from the 2023 Ghana Football Association (GFA) Presidential elections.

Afriyie, who was disqualified from the race, filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) on September 29, 2023, contesting the decision of the GFA Appeals Committee. However, the CAS recently dismissed Afriyie's appeal, upholding the original decision of the GFA Appeals Committee.

In a statement to Peace FM, monitored by Footballghana.com, Yakubu expressed his admiration for Afriyie's approach.

Despite the disappointing verdict, Yakubu urged everyone to accept the decision and move forward.

"In football what I will say is we are governed by laws and the laws also state that if you are been wronged like he was disqualified he went to the Appeals Committee from there we went to court here," he said.

"In all these we felt that the big one is CAS so we organized ourselves and went to CAS two days time we got the verdict that we lost but the way football law is I will say George didn't take matters into his own hands and do things anyhow he used legal means until CAS came out with the ruling I feel he has done well.

"This is not the end football will go on we have accepted everything that so far we have nothing else to do but to put our support behind Ghana football so that football will progress," he ended.
