John Blay, the father of midfielder Justice Blay, believes his son will return to the senior national team soon.

The 26 year old was handed a debut call up by CK Akonnor during the final round of qualifiers of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [Afcon] against South Africa and Sao Tome.

Blay made his debut for the Black Stars when he was introduced in the second half against Sao Tome at the Accra Sports Sports Stadium in a 3-1.

However, the midfielder's season was cut short after suffering a horrific injury in a Premier League game against Legon Cities at the Akoon Park.

Mr John Blay in an interview dismissed reports indicating that his son has quit football and stressed that he is confident his son will return to the senior national team strongly.

"It's never true that my son has quit football. Blay has started training, he even surprised everyone in a Monday special game so I'm surprised about such rumours," Mr John Blay told Kumasi based OTEC FM.

"With his performance I saw, I believe very soon my son will be part of the Black Stars team again," he added.

Blay before his injury was in a terrific form in the 2020-21 season for Medeama, featuring 16 times, netting three goals in the process.
