The supporters of Asante Kotoko, widely known as National Circles Council have hit back at the supporters of WAFA who accused them of supporting hooliganism in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season.

In a press release from the WAFA Supporters Union on Monday, they cautioned fans of the Porcupine Warriors to be of their best behaviour when they visit Sogakope in midweek for their Match Week 8 fixture of the season.

According to them, the caution was necessary because they believe the Reds do not support the Ghana Football Association’s fight against violence in football.

"Despite the FA's attempt to stop hooliganism in the league, it is an undoubted fact that fans of Asante Kotoko do not support the FA's effort", the release from WAFA's Supporters Union said.

In a press release today, the National Circles Council of Kotoko has described the release from the WAFA Supporters Union as erroneous and borne of malice.

"The NCC would like to state irrevocably that, the release is erroneous, infantile, lack validity, borne out of malice, and should be treated with the contempt it deserves", the statement signed by the communications officer for the Kotoko NCC Alexander Osei said.

It added, "We would like to call on the Football Association, and the Public to ignore the wisecrack of WAFA Supporters Union.

"The NCC has promised to deal with any miscreant who will misbehave at our match venue and we will stand by it.

“We would again want to use this conduit to REAFFIRM our firm resolve to support the Ghana Football Association to eradicate hooliganism in our local football, which jeopardizes the progress of football in this country".
