Ghana Premier League giants Kumasi Asante Kotoko has debunked media reports linking Head Coach for Obuasi Ashanti Gold Kjetil Zachariassen to take over from trainer Charles Kwablah Akonnor whose departure from the club looks imminent.

Despite leading the Porcupine Warriors to secure qualification for the next edition of the CAF Champions League, management of the club has asked CK Akonnor to leave his post as manager and take up the role of the Technical Director.

Meanwhile, it is understood the manager is not interested in that position and will leave the club if they decide to push the issue.

Reports in the local media in the last 12 hours has revealed that Kotoko is already in contact with Kjetil Zachariassen who they see as a perfect replacement for CK Akonnor if he leaves the club.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM earlier this morning, however, Communications Director for the Porcupine Warriors, Lawyer Sarfo Duku has stressed that there has not been any form of contact with the Ashgold trainer.

“We’ve not discussed anything about (Kjetil Zachariassen) and he’s not part of our discussion”, he said.

He added, “C. K still has a contract with Kotoko and as we speak now nothing has changed. But, I can tell you that we have taken a decision about C. K but we have to make it official to him before I can put this out there”.

The club is expected to meet with CK Akonnor later today to try and find a common ground that will suit both parties.
