Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Saani Daara, has urged ex-Ghana coach James Kwasi Appiah to retain his position on the GFA Executive Council (ExCo), despite growing appeals for his resignation.

This comes in the wake of concerns over Appiah's dual role, especially after Ghana's Black Stars were grouped with Sudan, the team Appiah currently manages, in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

While the GFA regulations do not expressly prohibit such dual roles, there are worries about potential conflicts of interest. However, Saani Daara believes that Appiah's dual role could significantly benefit Ghanaian football.

"Kwesi Appiah shouldn't resign (as a member of the GFA Executive Council). Kwesi Appiah being in charge of Sudan and a member of the ExCo will greatly benefit Ghanaian football. For example three Sudanese players are now joining Kotoko thanks to his ingenuity," Saani Daara told Joy Sports.

"The learning experiences he gains in Sudan will be brought back as a Ghanaian to impact Ghanaian football. I don't see anything wrong with that," he added.
