Kwesi Appiah’s work at Sudan will benefit Ghana – Ibrahim Sannie Daara

CAF Media Officer, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has argued that the work of former Ghana coach, Kwesi Appiah, as Sudan head coach will benefit Ghana in many ways.

There calls for Appiah to resign from the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association after the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying draw pitched Ghana against his Sudan side in Group F.

Many believe his dual roles as Sudan head coach and GFA EXCO member amount to conflict of interest, but Sannie Daara disagrees.

"I don't see the issue that people have been raising. There's always a case where people can recuse themselves from such discussion and it should be a straight forward case," the experienced journalist told JoySports.

"Kwasi Appiah being there in charge of Sudan and also being in the Exco will add a lot of good to Ghana football.

"The learning experiences he will have in Sudan, he will bring it back as a Ghanaian to impact on Ghana football. If there are any issues of conflict of interest, he can recuse himself from those meetings."

Ghana will begin the qualifiers in September, 2024 against Angola before facing Niger and subsequently Sudan.
