Former Ghana youth hotcake, Ransford Osei, has opened up about his failed move to English Premier League giants Manchester City back in 2007.

Osei was phenomenal in Ghana's journey to the semi-finals of the U17 World Cup in Korea and was on the wish list of several top clubs after his impressive performances.

Following his success at the U17 World Cup, the now 32-year-old made his way to England, where he spent three months training with Manchester City.

The then talented 17-year-old was hopeful of securing a deal with the club. However, complications arose due to the eligibility rules for teenage players.

"I had an opportunity to move to Manchester City, where I stayed for three months, where they arranged for my work permit, but there was this rule that you must have played 75 percent with the Black Stars, so it was difficult for me to secure one, and I had to leave for Israel," he told Kings Jersey TV.

Following his departure from Manchester City, Osei found himself joining Israeli club Maccabi Haifa. He later made a transfer to the Dutch Eredivisie, signing with FC Twente.
