Obuasi Ashanti Gold has been crowned champions of the tier 2 of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Normalization Committee (NC) Special Competition after posting a 1-0 victory over side Nzema Kotoko at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

An edgy encounter between the Premier League giants and the Lower division side produced an entertaining match to ensure the finale lived up to expectation on the day.

After dominating and showing signs of a far superior side, the Miners took the lead on the 38th-minute courtesy a strike from Mark Agyekum. The player's low driven shot had enough on it to beat goalkeeper Evans Quansah who was in goal for the Nzema based club.

From there on both sides played with a bit of caution which dragged the game a bit. Despite creating some decent chances in the remainder of the first half, neither side could find a way unto the scoresheet.

The second half also showed promise with both teams pushing to get a goal. Nonetheless, all the number of efforts proved futile as the referee blew his whistle to end the 90 minutes.

Having been crowned champions of the competition, the Obuasi based side will have the opportunity of representing Ghana in the next edition of the CAF Confederations cup.
