New management set to takeover embattled Ashantigold

Former Ashantigold President, Dr. Kwaku Frimpong has resolved to hand over the club to a new management to spearhead the revival of the team.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Kweku Frimpong confirmed negotiations with AngloGold Ashanti in a bid to transfer ownership to a new management

“We have sat down with Anglo Gold Ashanti and have agreed on giving the team to another management to spearhead the rival of the club. We are currently negotiating and doing all the paperwork for a successful takeover." He said.

Ashantigold were demoted to the Division Two League after being found guilty of match manipulation in their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League Matchday 34 game against Inter Allies.

Dr. Frimpong, and other officials as well Players who participated in the game received hefty sanctions from the Ghana FA Disciplinary Committee.

But Dr Frimpong is undoubtedly confident Ashantigold will rise again

"Ashgold is a giant in Ghanaian football, and its decline has been felt across the league," Dr. Frimpong remarked.

"But we are on a mission to restore its greatness and l urge our supporters to remain patient as we navigate through this transitional phase.

"With the grace of God and unwavering determination, Ashantigold will rise again."

Meanwhile, the leadership of the Obuasi-based club on Monday revealed their engagement with the Ghana Football Association to reclaim their footballing status.

In a statement released by the club, they expressed ongoing communication with the GFA, seeking assistance in reclaiming their footballing status.

"For the past few months, we are in constant communication with the GFA to assist us in the pursuit to regain our footballing status. We therefore entreat all our loyal supporters to be patient and optimistic about our comeback to competitiveness in the 2024/25 season," the statement read.
