No local player is financially secured - Richard Osei Agyemang

Former Ashantigold defender Richard Osei Agyemang is advocating for a better salary structure for players plying their trade in the local scene.

Ghana is considered as one of the highest exporter of footballers, giving credence to players moving out for greener pastures due to low wages.

Speaking to Kessben FM, as followed by Footballghana.com, the former Asante Kotoko defender affirmed there is no player in the Ghana Premier League who is financially secured due to the poor salaries.

He added amateur player will in the coming days take over the Ghana Premier League since clubs are not ready to offer better salaries to the quality players in the league.

“There is no local player who is rich. There is no one, I tell you. I dare anyone to come out. If players earn good money they will stay in the league. Salaries given to players in the local scene are nothing to write home about. If a local player earns GHC10,000, I don’t think that player will move outside. We have to fight for the boys so they can also get something. Very soon, we will see amateur players playing in the league” he said.

Since departing Ghana for greener pastures in 2023, the 29-year-old defender has had stints with Real Kashmir in India and Nepal outfit Dhangadhi.
