Turkish club Besiktas have officially announced the signing of Ghana defender Daniel Amartey on a three-year deal.

The contract will run until 2026, with the versatile player set to play in Europe again.

The experienced defender joins the club as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with English Premier League team Leicester City at the conclusion of the 2022/23 campaign.

The transfer process was completed swiftly, as the 27-year-old player arrived in Turkey earlier in the day and successfully underwent a medical examination, as required by standard protocol for finalizing the transfer.

Besiktas confirmed the deal with an official statement on their website late on Friday, making their intentions clear for the upcoming season.

The statement read, "Our club signed a contract with Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey as part of the transfer efforts for the 2023-24 season.

“We wish Daniel Amartey, who we believe will render important services to our club, great success with our glorious uniform, and present it to the public with our respect."
