Orlando Pirates target Jamal Salim as replacement for Richard Ofori

Orlando Pirates are in advanced talks to sign Ugandan goalkeeper Jamal Salim, as they look to replace Ghanaian Richard Ofori, who is set to leave the club this summer.

The 29-year-old shot stopper has declined a new deal with the DSTV Premiership club, where he has been playing for the past three seasons.

Reports suggest that the Buccaneers are closing in on a deal with Richards Bay FC for Salim's transfer.

The 27-year-old Ugandan has featured in 23 matches for Richards Bay this season, keeping 11 clean sheets in the South African top-flight.

Negotiations between Pirates and Richards Bay reached an advanced stage on Wednesday night.

Should Ofori refuse the offer for an extension, Orlando Pirates are expected to complete the signing of Salim before the June transfer window.

Ofori has been a regular player for the Pirates since his arrival from Maritzburg United in the 2019/20 season, but with his contract set to expire this summer, the club is already searching for his replacement.
