Our title charge still on course – Samartex coach Nurudeen Amadu after Kotoko defeat

Published on: 22 April 2024

FC Samartex head coach, Nurudeen Amadu, has down played the fact that their defeat to Asante Kotoko has dented their Ghana Premier League title charged.

FC Samartex suffered a 1-0 loss at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium after referee Mawuli Vormawah awarded what many described as a non-existent penalty to the Porcupine Warriors.

This defeat marked FC Samartex's first loss in seven games, during which they won four and drew two matches.

Samartex are still top of the Ghana Premier League table with 49 points, with their five-point gap intact after second place Nations FC also lost 3-0 to relegation fighters Heart of Lions in Kpando.

“We are still very ambitious and we are going forward. I mean, if the performance was not good, then we will have a cause to be worried.

“I think that they did their best only that their best was not enough. I congratulate them. It was a good game. We will look forward to other matches.”
