The Ghana ambassador to Ivory Coast H.E. Lt Gen. Peter Augustine Blay (Rtd) honoured the national U-17 boys lavishly at the embassy in Abidjan on Sunday after the team secured qualification for the Africa Youth Championship.

The starlets went past Ivory Coast after a 0-0 drawn game away from home to record a 3-1 aggregate score line. Ghana will be making a return to the juvenile competition after missing the previous edition through disqualification.

The Starlets knocked out Cameroon to qualify for the last tournament held in Niger, but the Confederations of African Football (CAF) later disqualified Ghana after Cameroon lodged a protest over alleged disparities in MRI results of some players.

Coach Paa Kwesi Fabian and his lads will now represent Ghana at next year's African Under 17 Championship in Madagascar to the delight of the deputy ambassador James Amuzu who hosted the team at the embassy in Abidjan.
