Ghanaian politician, Patrick Boakye Yiadom has charged the government to help in securing sponsorships for the Ghana Premier League in order to make it more attractive.

Some Ghanaians over the years have raised concerns about the decline of the domestic football particularly, the Ghana Premier League.

To them, the domestic league is nothing to write home about as they believe other countries in Africa are pushing to improve as compared to Ghana.

Speaking to Oyerepa FM in Kumasi, Boakye Yiadom, who is the Member of Parliament for Obuasi East entreated the government to spearhead the revitalization of the local league (Ghana Premier League).

"Government should lead in the sponsorship of the local league. Government can initiate an appeal to all state agencies and private companies to invest in the league” he told Oyerepa FM in an interview.

“We have seen this in the past when GNPC were sponsoring the black stars. That was when the black stars were producing Spectacular performances” he added.

Boakye Yiadom was in action last Wednesday for the Parliamentarians when they triumphed over the former Black Stars players in a curtain raiser game at the Accra Sports Stadium.

He scored one of his sides goals as they cruised to a 3-1 win over the former Black Stars players.
