Signings of Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak last season were not up to standard – Opoku Nti

Asante Kotoko legend Opoku Nti believes signings his former club and Hearts of Oak made last season where not up to standard.

He argued that the two clubs must sign players who are able to attract crowd to the stadium if they are sticking to their standards.

Hearts of Oak survived relegation on the final day of the season with a dramatic win over Bechem United while Asante Kotoko finished sixth on the table, 12 points behind champions, FC Samartex.

Opoku Nti adds that Hearts and Kotoko have turned things around this season with the signing of more established players.

“You see, like any great team, we always go for the matured and experienced players, those who are ready to fight,” he told Joy Sports.

“If you watch Kotoko and Hearts of Oak last season, their signings were not up to the standard, because every team has its own philosophy and the standard.

“If a team pulls crowds, you need to bring players that have the names that will draw the supporters to the stadium. And that was not happening last year between Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.

“So this year, I think they have started very well trying to bring in quality players.”
