Sports Ministry, GFA intervenes to ensure Baba Yara meets required standard before Dreams vs Zamalek game
The Ministry of Youth and Sports is working with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to ensure the Baba Yara Sports Stadium meets the required standards to host the match between Dreams FC and Zamalek this weekend.
After the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, CAF informed Dreams FC about the need to ensure the Stadium meets a certain standard to host the next round of games.
According to Dreams FC General Manager Ameedu Shardow, the Sports Ministry has assured the club that it is making sure that is done.
“The Sports Ministry has stepped in and assured us that it is not our responsibility to make payment to the NSA and that they (MOYS) will take care of everything in terms of preparation. Mind you, if this stadium is not ready for the semi-finals, Dreams FC may be disqualified from playing here, and there is a Black Stars game scheduled for June.
“So, if the only venue homologated on the Caf list of venues for international matches is rejected, Ghana will be unable to play its next international game in our homeland, and we all know what that means. So the Ministry has taken interest in it, making sure everything goes well, and the FA is also supporting with logistical needs of the NSA for us to move forward,” Ameedu Shardow said in an interview with Akoma FM.
The game between Dreams FC and Zamalek will be played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, April 28.
