Coach of the Black Starlets Paa Kwesi Fabin insists the postponement of the Africa Youth Championship to be held in Gabon affected the team’s cohesion.

The tournament which was scheduled to be hosted in Madagascar had to be postponed after the island nation withdrew from hosting the event. Gabon, who hosted the Africa Cup of Nations in January, took advantage of the situation host the youth championship.

The two times champions, Ghana are looking at winning the competition for the third time after the 1995 and 1999 triumphs.

“The postponement of the tournament has disintegrated our cohesion so we’re trying everything possible to get the boys in shape before the tournament starts,” he told Happy FM.

“Little by little everything is falling in place as we hope, and this afternoon we’ve arranged a friendly game against a division two side Republicans in Aburi to see whether we have made much improvement,” he added.

Ghana are in group A with Gabon, Guinea and Cameroon.
