This is the most exciting Hearts-Kotoko game I’ve watched in the past two years – Agyemang Badu after Democracy Cup clash

Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has commended Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko following their outstanding performance in the Democracy Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors defeated arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in a thrilling match to claim the first-ever Democracy Cup on Wednesday night at the Accra Sports Stadium. The game was held to celebrate 30 years of parliamentary democracy in Ghana.

Kotoko’s success in the inaugural Democracy has secured the team a ticket to the United States to face Major League Soccer side DC United at a date to be announced by the organizers.

The visitors took the lead after 30 minutes into the game through Justice Blay, who scored from the spot. They went to the halftime break with the advantage.

Hearts of Oak equalized after the break with a header from new signing Asamoah Boateng Afriyie before Kotoko found the back of the net again to regain the lead when Peter Amidu capitalized on a defensive error by Hearts of Oak to secure a 2-1 victory for the Kumasi-based side.

Badu in an interview rated the Democracy Cup game between the two glamourous clubs as the most exciting clash he has watched in the last two years.

“For the past two, this is the most exciting Kotoko-Hearts game I have watched. In terms of passing, aggressiveness and composure, I think everything was on point. Kotoko played well, especially in the first. The likes of Emmanuel Antwi, Samba, Blay and others took control in the middle” he said.

Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak will continue their preparation for the new season as they aim to make an impact following a disappointing performance last term.
