UEFA U16 Tournament: 17 Black Starlets had not been on flight before; going to Russia good experience – Laryea Kingston

Laryea Kingston, the head coach of Ghana’s U17 male national team, the Black Starlets, says 17 of the squad members he sent to Russia for the UEFA U16 Invitational Tournament had not been on flight before.

He reckons the trip to Russia for the four-nation tournament last month was a good experience for them ahead of their participation in the 2024 WAFU Zone B Cup of Nations.

Laryea Kingston has therefore commended the organizers of the competition for the valuable experience he and his players gained from the tournament.

“We were in that tournament with 20 players. Out of the 20, only three of them have had experience in being on the flight.

“So, about 17 of them have never experienced flying before.”

The Black Starlets participated in the tournament for the second time in Russia after also doing so last year in Serbia.

The Ghana U17 male national team lost their opening game against Russia by a 3-1 score line before winning the following two games with 5-1 score lines.
