Veteran striker Asamoah Gyan has donated hand sanitizers, veronica buckets, as well as other items to the residents of the Weija-Gbawe constituency in the Great Accra Region.

The move is part of efforts by the Black Stars striker to help in the fight against the spread of the novel Coronavirus which has been declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Gyan during his rounds without the communities in the Constituency explained that it is his way of giving back to his community during these difficult times the country is going through.

He said, “I need to give back to my community and that is what I am doing. Where I live I have to just make sure that all those people around me also benefit from what is going on [the donations].

“Our focus to be on the needy. Those who maybe they cannot afford or who need support. We are trying to make sure that everybody gets his or her share of what we are doing. This is not the end. This is just the beginning”.

The former Sunderland forward added, “We are all in hard times now. We are in trying times. People look up, people look up to me. So I just have to put the message across. I advise every celebrity, every icon, everybody, to get involved. We are fighting the Coronavirus so we are not going to stop. We are going to fight with our power, with our minds and everything because it is a deadly disease.

“Nobody should panic, we just need to make sure we stay together and then we fight it”.
