WAFA U-16 set up final with Valencia in Next Generation championship
The U-15 team of Ghana Premier League side, West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) has progressed to the finals of the 2019 edition of the Next Generation Trophy where they are expected to face the youth team of Valencia.
The Sogakope based club started off the ongoing tournament in Austria in fine fashion and went on to top Group C defeating New York Red Bulls before drawing with Valencia.
Having qualified to the quarter-final stage, WAFA defeated Benfica 4-2 to ensure they progressed into the semi-finals to play Schalke 04. They put up a splendid performance and also won the tie 3-0.
They have now set-up a date with Valencia u-16 who defeated Red Bull Salzburg 2-0 in the other semifinal game.
The final of the Next Generation championship will be played in Austria on Saturday, August 10, 2019.
WAFA is defending champions of the youth tournament and will be hoping to beat Valencia to ensure they retain the prestigious trophy.
