WAFU B U17 Nations Cup: My boys were a bit jittery against Cote d’Ivoire – Laryea Kingston

Black Starlets head coach, Laryea Kingston, has revealed his players were a bit nervous in Wednesday’s WAFU B U17 Cup of Nations win over Cote d’Ivoire.

Despite these claims of jittery from their head coach, the Black Starlets won convincingly by a 5-1 score line.

Speaking after the game, Laryea said, “Of course, most of my boys, this is the first time playing such a competition on home soil.

“I felt they were a little bit jittery. So with that, we had to manage and then try to take something out and try to do our best.

“Sometimes, we tried to play one, two, three passes but for me as a technical person I’m not satisfied with the way we played.”

Joseph Narbi bagged a brace to give the Starlets a 2-0 first half lead.  Godfred Sarpong made it three for Ghana just after the break before Côte d’Ivoire pulled one back.

However, Harve Gbafa restored the Starlets’ three goal lead with 15 minutes to go before Mark Kagawa Mensah sealed the game in stoppage time.
