WAFU U-17 Zone B Championship: Defender Samed fit to play for Ghana against Nigeria

Published on: 14 September 2018

Defender Abdul Samed has handed Black Starlets a massive injury boost as he declares himself fit for the WAFU U-17 Zone B Championship final against Nigeria.

The left back's arm was heavily strapped after Ghana’s epic 2-1 win over Ivory Coast in the first semi-final clash on Wednesday.

Samed who plays plies his trade with Dreams FC has played every single minute of Ghana’s campaign at the tournament being staged in Niger to emphasize his importance to the side.

Losing him ahead of the final match against rivals Nigeria will thus deal a heavy blow to coach Karim Zito.

But the left-back says he is well enough to play on Sunday.

“I felt some pains in my arm but this morning the pain is no more,” he told FootballmadeinGhana.com.

“I think if it continues like this, I will be ready to play in the final.”

The winner of the final match on Sunday will qualify to play at next year’s Africa U17 Championships to be hosted by Tanzania.
