Laryea Kingston, the manager of the Black Starlets, has commended his technical team for their role in the team's impressive 5-1 victory over Ivory Coast on Wednesday.

In his first major assignment as a national team coach, the former Ghanaian winger credited his coaching staff for guiding the team to success.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Kingston revealed that his technical team persuaded him to stick to their original game plan when he considered changing tactics during the match.

"At a certain point, I wanted to switch to a 3-4-3 system from our initial 4-3-3 formation, but my technical team convinced me to stay with the original plan because it was effective," he stated.

"We have two main systems of play. In our previous matches, we used a 4-3-3 formation against Russia and a 3-4-3 against Serbia. We usually adapt our strategy based on the opponent, but we always stick to the plan," Kingston explained.

"We analyzed Ivory Coast's previous matches against Argentina and France, focusing on their on-ball and off-ball movements. We worked on some tactical adjustments with the players, and it paid off. I'm grateful to the technical team and everyone who supported us," he added.

The Black Starlets will face Benin in their next group game of the 2024 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship on Tuesday.

With 3 points, Ghana currently leads the table, followed by Benin who are yet to play a game, with Ivory Coast at the bottom.
