Black Starlets coach, Laryea Kingston, insists his team will not be carried away by their dominant win over Ivory Coast as they prepare for their crucial game against Benin.

Ghana's U17 team secured an impressive victory in the WAFU Zone B Championship, winning their Group A opener convincingly.

Goals from Joseph Narbi (2), Godfred Sarpong, Harve Gbafa, and Mark Kagawa Mensah contributed to a comfortable 5-1 triumph for the hosts.

As they look ahead to their match against Benin, Kingston emphasizes that complacency is not an option.

“Complacency? Oh no! It’s not in our dictionary,” Laryea responded when asked if his players might become overconfident against Benin, as reported by the Ghana FA website.

“We have our style and that is what we hope to show. We aim to dominate the game in terms of possession and win, and that’s what we will be doing on Tuesday.

“The Ivory Coast game is behind us, and we’ve moved on. The most important game for us now is Benin, and we will approach it with all the necessary seriousness,” he added.

Ghana needs only to avoid defeat to secure the top spot in the group and await their semi-final opponents.

With the tournament offering two slots for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Black Starlets are determined to reach the final and make a return to the continental stage, which has eluded them for the past seven years.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 18:00 GMT at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
