We have a surprise package for the Black Starlets if they win the Africa Junior Championship- Deputy Sports Minister Pius Hadzide

Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Pius Hadzide has promised the Black Starlets that they will be handsomely rewarded if they lift the Africa Youth Championship in Gabon.

 

The national under-17 team left for Gabon on Friday.

 

Before their departure they met the deputy sports minister and other officials who spoke to the team encouraging them to go all out and win the title the country has won twice.

 

The minister revealed if the team wins the tournament each player will pocket $5000.

“We hope they will all their matches. In the group stages they will play three matches and they will proceed to the semis and then the finals and so we have a surprise package for them, it’s a secret,” he told reporters.

 

 

“If they win the trophy, the nation will reward them duely. When the win all their games in the group stages they will pocket $3000 and when they win in the semifinal they will pocket $1000, and it’s the same amount if the win the final.  So if they win all games then they are getting $5000.”

 

The Black Starlets are in group A with Gabon, Guinea and Cameroon.
