We shouldn’t think about winning the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League – Ex-Kotoko winger Francis Akwafo

Former Asante Kotoko winger Francis Akwafo wants the club to lower their expectations ahead of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League campaign.

Following a disappointing season where they finished sixth, Kotoko have significantly revamped their squad, parting ways with over 20 players and bringing in twelve new recruits.

The Porcupine Warriors are brimming with confidence following their 2-1 win over Hearts of Oak in the Democracy Cup last month.

“We shouldn’t think about winning the Ghana Premier League. The fans should lower their expectations going into the new season. We can get the best out of the players if they are not pressured. If we lower our expectations, the players can play well and win games for us. It is not easy to ward off over 18 players and win the league” he said.

Kotoko will face Medeama in an inaugural friendly match on Friday, August 16, at the new TNA Stadium.

The team will head to Cape Coast to finalize their preparation for the new season. Kotoko will open their season account against Karela United, when the Ghana Premier League begins next month.
